War Thunder - The Battlefields of Flanders

A Leap into the Unknown - Flanders Awaits You

Hey warrior, pack your camouflage gear and dive into a brand new battle. War Thunder is launching full force into the new "Kings of Battle" update, bringing us a very special surprise - Flanders! Just when you think you've explored every nook and cranny of the game, the development team at Gaijin Entertainment conjures up something new.

Flanders - A Living Battlefield

Flanders is not just another location on the map. It is a living battlefield that adapts and changes depending on the vehicles you bring into battle. Yes, you read that right! The landscape adjusts to the era of your vehicles. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's take a closer look at Flanders.

The breathtaking landscape of Flanders

Imagine driving through blooming tulip fields, passing by ancient windmills, and suddenly a wide defense line opens up before you. Barbed wire, a complex system of trenches and fortifications - that's Flanders. In the southern part of the map, you'll find many artillery bomb craters, and this is where the southern team launches their attack. The northern team is located on the outskirts of the city, and in the middle of the map, a armored train is stuck on the tracks in a destroyed train station.

But it doesn't stop there: In battles with classic vehicles from the mid-20th century, you'll see horse-drawn carriages on the streets and the wreckage of a crashed airship beneath the trenches. However, if you're fighting with more modern vehicles, the cities turn into cozy tourist centers, and the crashed airship is replaced by the wreckage of a modern transport plane.

Pro tips for fighting in Flanders

To prepare yourself for the battles in Flanders, we have some pro tips from Flanders' map designer, Evgeniy Yakovlev:

  1. If you're on the southern team, occupy the high ground near the railway tracks.
  2. For the northern team: Try to occupy the trenches and use them to protect yourself from crossfire and engage the enemy team at the entrances to the capture points.
  3. Be cautious on the main roads leading to the capture points and use the small bridge arches to avoid the risk of crossing the railway tracks with your tank.

Flanders will be part of the map rotation for ground battles with the release of the major "Kings of Battle" update. Now is the perfect opportunity to put your War Thunder skills to the test and adapt to the new terrain.
