Flight Simulator - The next update makes Great Britain pretty

Thanks to modern gaming technology and the linking of the Microsoft Flight Simulator with live data from the internet, the game is able to map our earth in astonishing detail. Nevertheless, the developers regularly edit various places by hand in order to make them even more realistic. In the latest update, Great Britain now receives such an upgrade. Here's what's in the cosmetic patch.

Planned continual improvements

As early as the release on 18.08.2020, Microsoft and Asobo announced numerous expansions for the latest flight simulator. They said they wanted to maintain and develop the game over many years. So Microsoft released a comprehensive roadmap early on, which it has adhered to without exception so far. At the beginning, Japan received a cosmetic upgrade. This was followed by a comprehensive patch with gameplay optimizations. This was based to a large extent on the criticism of the players. In the second World Update, the USA was revised. We also know how it will continue: The current roadmap, which runs until the end of February 2021, includes numerous improvements, two major simulation optimizations, and the third World Update.

Great Britain spruced up with new update

The third World Update focusing on Great Britain is in the starting blocks and is expected to be released on 26.01.2021. Extensive revisions will be made to England, Scotland and Wales. These are likely to be just as extensive as in the previous World Updates for Japan and the USA. However, it is not yet known what optimizations will be made in detail.

Seven weeks before the release of the World Update, we only know that up to 60 new sights will be added to the game. In addition, there will be a series of detailed airports in Great Britain. These were already available, but are visually improved. Furthermore, Asobo wants to add more procedurally generated buildings. It is not yet known whether Northern Ireland will make it into the update. At the moment they are collecting the relevant data, but cannot promise anything.

VR support coming before Christmas

So far, using the VR mode in Microsoft Flight Simulator has been reserved for participants in the beta. But this is also going to change soon. Because on December 22, 2020, virtual reality is to be unlocked for all players by means of a free update. This way you can experience the impressive technology of the game in an breathtaking way and dive directly into the game world, which reproduces our earth in great detail.

Who should try out Microsoft Flight Simulator?

Due to its technological advances, the Flight Simulator is undoubtedly an achievement for the entire gaming world. So not only simulation enthusiasts and aviation experts have fun with it. The possibility to explore every corner of our earth offers its own appeal for every type of player. Thanks to individual difficulty levels, no comprehensive knowledge is required for this.
