Fortnite Update: Shockwave Grenades Return - Jungle Mobility Gets a Boost

New Fortnite Update brings back Shockwave Grenades

Places like Slappy Shores are still present in Fortnite, but the jungle in Chapter 4 Season 3 is a whole different animal - not just because of Optimus Primal. In one of the best battle royale games, traversing the jungle without a grappling hook or the sorely missed Spider-Man webs can be tedious. To compensate for the lack of faster means of transportation, Epic Games is releasing a new Fortnite update - along with the return of the dreaded Shockwave Grenades.

Epic Games announces on the official Fortnite Twitter page that the Shockwave Grenades will be reintroduced in the Zero Build with the v25.10 game update. Additionally, the developer clarifies that they are "paying close attention to player feedback on mobility items and continuing to monitor the gameplay of all battle royale experiences."

What are Shockwave Grenades and how do they work?

Shockwave Grenades were first introduced in Season 5 in 2018 and do not deal any damage upon impact, but can push players through structures or off cliffs, often resulting in significant health loss. However, many players use them as a faster way to escape danger and catapult themselves into the distance, as the item does not inflict any damage on the user.

They can be particularly annoying when trying to take a good shot at the enemy. Without a lock-on gun in the jungle, taking out good builders and agile opponents requires the best targeting skills.

Means of transportation in Fortnite

Although the current Fortnite season still offers means of transportation such as cars or motorcycles, faster options in item form have not yet been reintroduced. In the past season, Fortnite augments like Aerialist made it easier to jump from high areas, as the glider could be used indefinitely.

Reactions from the Fortnite community

Despite the bad reputation that Shockwave Grenades have left among players, some Fortnite fans are happy about their return to the game. Ali 'SypherPK' Hassan expresses his enthusiasm for the new update with a simple phrase for Epic Games: "I love you."
