Fraymakers Patch - Focus on Character Changes

Welcome to the latest Fraymakers patch

Friends, it's that time again: a new patch for Fraymakers is here! This time, the focus is on changes to the playable characters, from balance adjustments to new mechanics and revamped moves. But don't worry, general gameplay mechanics and assist characters are not left out. Let's dive in and take a look at the most important updates!

What to expect from the playable characters

In this patch, some of the characters have been significantly changed or experimentally adjusted - especially CommanderVideo and Octodad. The developers will be closely monitoring the effects and making further adjustments or even rolling back some things if necessary. Although there are big changes, this is not yet the final vision for the characters - especially with Welltaro, more changes are planned.

As the changes in this patch are extensive, the balance between characters may be temporarily disrupted. The goal is to implement the larger changes first and then make further adjustments from there to restore balance. Player feedback is very welcome.

General Changes

  • Strong attacks can now be used during running turn animations.
  • Fixed an issue where dashing while walking did not work if a directional key was already pressed.
  • Fixed an issue where falling off platforms with the dash button did not work if the down key was already pressed.
  • Characters now animate through "shield_in" when holding down the shield button until the end of a roll.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed for a perfect shield effect on the first frame of the shield. This behavior should no longer occur.

Adjustments to Playable Characters

Most characters have received balance adjustments and changes to their moves. Some examples include:

  • CommanderVideo: His rainbow mechanic has been reworked.
  • Octodad: He now has revised hitboxes and improved sprites.
  • Orcane: Some of his powerful moves have been weakened, while he has gained new tricks like hydroplaning and puddle recovery.
  • Welltaro: Has the fewest major changes, but further adjustments are still being worked on.

Assist Characters

The assist characters have also undergone some changes. Here are two examples:

  • Ape: Restoration of the pelvic thrust sound effect.
  • The Bard: Improved wheel detection.
