Star Citizen to be Playable for Free in April
The multiplayer space game and detailed shipbuilding simulation Star Citizen will be temporarily playable for free in April. Developer Cloud Imperium aims to address issues that arose from the recently released Star Citizen 3.18 update. The increased number of players will help identify and fix errors more quickly.
Update 3.18 and New Patch Version
The update 3.18, also known as Last Legacies, launched in March and brought new locations, a revision of the cargo system, and expanded salvage mechanics to the game. Despite the update's great ambitions, it also led to a series of errors and technical issues.
Testing Phase with "Free Fly" Week
On April 12th, Cloud Imperium released a new patch (3.18.1) that aims to fix some of the game's issues. To test the patch and the new features from Update 3.18 with as many players as possible, the developer is planning a "Free Fly" week from April 13th to 20th.
More Players for Better Bug Detection
According to Cloud Imperium, more players mean more data, which helps identify and fix issues: "This is particularly important as we continue to improve the game and want to ensure it can handle the increased traffic." However, the developer also notes that the planned Free Fly week may be canceled due to unforeseen issues.
