Frozenheim - Viking city building in the cold north

After a boom in the late 90s and early 2000s, the genre of strategy games is losing importance on our computers to the detriment of more ambitious and revolutionary titles that make use of all the resources at our disposal to offer us both gameplay and graphic innovations. Nevertheless, it is still possible to spend many hours with current strategy and simulation games, like this one, Frozenheim.

Frozenheim is a quiet Nordic city-building game that offers sophisticated management mechanics and multiple progression trees to balance as you maintain and expand your settlement. Prepare for brutal RTS battles that will test your tactical skills. As you send out exploration parties on foot and by boat, you will not only discover resources that you can exploit, but also attract the attention of enemies who will try to destroy you.

Current News for Forzenheim

There are already several game modes available to immerse yourself in the life of a Jarl who must lead his clan. A campaign mode is also part of the game, but so far it has proved to be more of a two-stage tutorial. So, to really enjoy the game, you have to turn to the single player skirmish mode, the multiplayer mode, or simply start a new game that will take you into the wonderful fjords.

To harvest the resources necessary for your survival, you must build various huts and assign workers to them who will set out to harvest the resources and others who will collect them in the Jarl's house. As the game progresses, you will have to build houses to increase the number of residents and at the same time the number of available workers, making sure to meet the needs of the different dwellings over the years.

A very positive aspect of Frozenheim: its system of unfolding the seasons, which brings both positive and negative events with it. So, in winter, farms and mills cannot produce resources, and at certain times of the year there are storms and downpours that can set your houses on fire. But don't panic, there will be wells to prevent your tribe from being reduced to rubble and ashes

Explore the fjords

Once the minimum number of residents and resources is reached, you must set up an army that lives up to its name in order to conquer the countries and seas and discover the many bonuses on the map. There are several units available, each with different values and abilities. The scouts will make it easier for you to explore in order to discover remote villages or bandit camps that retreat into the woods.

During your exploration, runes will appear that will allow you to unlock blessings and thus gain the favor of the gods, which will help you in your adventure. Unfortunately, the games are very short and offer no great replay value, as they end as soon as you destroy the enemy clan.

Even if the skirmish mode is available in solo mode, it only allows the addition of one enemy village and nothing allows us to form alliances with these other clans at the moment. The only way to make use of this aspect is to go through the multiplayer mode and thus develop real strategies in front of other players. This last point disappointed us during our test, as it is one of the key elements of strategy games. But maybe the developers will catch up on this point.

4k and 60 fps are a must
