Netflix has announced that two productions in the Gears of War universe are in the works. The first is said to be a live-action film adaptation, and the second is an animated series for adult viewers.
The Story of Gears of War
In Gears of War, the story revolves around a human civilization on the planet Sera. On this planet, there was a devastating war for resources that split humanity into different factions. Despite the circumstances, these factions have come together under the government of the Coalition in order to stand against a greater threat.
This threat comes from within the planet and are the "Locust". The main characters of Gears of War are the soldiers of the COG, who are also simply known as Gears. These soldiers try everything they can to save humanity from extinction.
Netflix and Video Game Adaptations
Lately, Netflix has been gaining attention by adapting successful video games into live-action productions. Most recently, the adaptation of the successful game Cyberpunk 2077 has broken records. But these productions are not only profitable for Netflix, they are also beneficial for the video game developers themselves. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 saw a surge in sales and players after the release of the series.
We can be sure to see even more video game adaptations from the streaming giant in the future.
