CD Projekt Red has just released its final update for Gwent, the free-to-play spin-off card game from the Witcher developer, giving us control over the deck builder. Gwent was the first card game that ever appealed to me, and it remains my secret pleasure to this day. I first enjoyed the game in The Witcher 3 before diving into the PvP waters of Gwent in 2020. It's challenging, fun, and incredibly rewarding when you win.
The future of Gwent now lies in our hands. CD Projekt Red begins its post by unveiling the final update for the Witcher-inspired card game, stating, "Tomorrow we will release Update 11.10, which includes the last card changes made by us." The developer goes on to say that the new patch means, "From now on, you have control over all changes to Gwent's cards."
Gwentfinity and Player Control
With the arrival of Gwentfinity, CD Projekt writes: "We leave the future balance of Gwent in your hands." If you're not familiar with what the developer means by Gwentfinity, it refers to the ongoing support of the game after its final update. Gwent will remain online as long as players continue to play, and both events and in-game seasons will continue as usual. However, CD Projekt Red will no longer organize official tournaments.
However, this allows us to host our own player-organized competitions with prizes. The developer is not removing the ranked mode from Gwent, so you will see teams organizing tournaments from the best players of the free PC game. To maintain balance while players take control, CD Projekt Red is introducing the "Balance Council".
The Balance Council – Your Voice Matters
The developer describes this mysterious council as "a voting system that allows players to decide which cards should be stronger, weaker, more expensive, or cheaper." In other words, we will have control over decks and gameplay from now on. For more details about the Balance Council and the 11.10 update, check out the official update FAQ.
