Half-Life: Alyx - The VR shooter from Valve will also be released for Valve Index in March 2020

Half-Life: Alyx is coming in March 2020 as a pure VR game

The developer Valve has now officially announced its newest game called Half-Life: Alyx and pleases and disappoints fans alike. The latest game in the series will not be the Half-Life 3 as hoped, but will take place between Half-Life and Half-Life 2. Thus, the cliffhanger that the end of part 2 left open will not be answered.

This probably disappoints many fans but at the same time Alyx also brings a lot of hope, because it will be a pure VR title. After the first information about the game leaked, Valve also immediately released the official announcement and a trailer.

In the trailer you also learn the most important thing you need to know about the story of Alyx.

The Story of Half-Life: Alyx

It has been a few years since the Black Mesa incident occurred and the Combine have taken over control of the entire planet. The last survivors are hiding in the cities and trying to defend themselves against the invaders. In City 17, scientist Eli Vance and his daughter Alyx Vance belong to the resistance. In the trailer, Alyx is even referred to as the only hope for the survival of mankind. In addition to destroying the main base of the aliens, the game also focuses on exploring new and better weapons to achieve this goal.

Although many games have the option of being played with such glasses, the implementations are not particularly successful. Valve is now taking a step further, of course promoting the in-house VR system called Valve Index, and developing a VR game specifically for it.

That they are now resorting to such drastic measures and developing a new Half-Life shows how important it is for Valve that this concept establishes itself or at least finds significantly more fans.

Is the Valve Index VR glasses worth it?

Valve Index is one of the newest devices on the market and shows this with its technical data. In addition to a resolution of 2880 × 1600, it offers a standard image refresh rate of 90 Hz. Up to here, the Valve Index is identical to the slightly more expensive top model from HTC, the

Our conclusion on the Valve Index VR system

Overall, we have to say that Valve has increased the pressure on the competition significantly with the Index VR system and that this might lead to some more movement in development.
