Halo Infinite - Why you absolutely need to buy the campaign

Halo: Combat Evolved made a huge splash as the launch title for the first Xbox console in 2001. The local multiplayer turned out to be the perfect couch shooter with friends. Halo paved the way for a whole host of first-person shooters for consoles. The term "Halo clone" didn't come about for nothing.

Halo Infinite was supposed to follow in this tradition and be available for the launch of the Xbox Series X/S. But by now we know that this won't be the case. The developers are mainly not satisfied with the graphic performance, which also many fans noticed negatively at the first gameplay presentation in July 2020. Therefore, Halo Infinite has been postponed to 2021.

How Halo Infinite's campaign will be so different and yet classic

At the center of the Halo story is a galactic struggle between humanity and the Covenant, a consortium of various alien species. Both groups are vying for control of the mysterious Halo rings, massive artificial superweapons. In the role of the Spartan-II soldier John 117 you experience a blockbuster worthy of the silver screen.

However, with each additional Halo game, the franchise slowly lost its main characters and the center of the galactic struggle from its sight. The plot of Halo 4 was so convoluted that newcomers didn't even know what it was all about. At the latest, the campaign of Halo 5: Guardians felt a bit half-hearted.

This is finally going to change with Halo Infinite, promises developer 343 Industries. The Master Chief is once again at the center of the action, which begins some time after the end of Halo 5: Guardians. And what it's all about is immediately clear to every player: A group of Brute called "the Banished" led by the brutal Atriox has taken control of a Halo ring. The Master Chief has to stop them.

The simple story is supposed to bring newcomers closer to the Halo universe

Experience the world of a Halo ring

But that doesn't mean Halo Infinite doesn't have any surprises in store. There will be an open world in which, in addition to linear main missions, side missions can also be taken over by non-player characters. And the Master Chief's equipment will soon include a so-called grappling hook. It promises more movement options before, during and after fights. But the fights remain the backbone of the Halo experience. We could always rely on that: Halo action is first-person shooting of the extra class.

The biggest Halo campaign of all time

343 Industries has already announced that Halo Infinite's campaign will be bigger than the two previous campaigns put together. If you want a return to the roots of the science fiction adventure, you shouldn't miss the Halo Infinite campaign.

As soon as a release date is set, we will report on it in our news portal. Until then, you can sweeten the wait with Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This will get an upgrade for Xbox Series X with a resolution of up to 4K and a frame rate of 120. It will be available from November 17, 2020.
