Heroes and Generals 2 - WWII MMO gets update to Unreal Engine 5

The WWII MMO Heroes and Generals is being switched to Unreal Engine 5. Developed since 2008, the game has already seen 36 million battles, 1300 wars and 20 million registrations. After merging with TLM, the Reto Moto team has been working on improving the game to enable updated graphics, gameplay mechanics, audio and controller compatibility. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 will allow Heroes and Generals 2 to keep the DNA of the original game and not become a modern war FPS.

The game offers a combination of FPS and real-time strategy and allows players to choose between the Axis powers or Allies and play as a soldier or general. There are various game modes and the environment is influenced by player actions. The game will be free-to-play but will include battle passes, cosmetic upgrades and content updates. The aim is to take the franchise to the next level and offer all players the full potential.

The game will be released for PC and there are plans for a console release. There will also be monetary incentives but monetization will not stand in the way of progress. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 will allow for an improved strategy layer, dynamic integration of shooter elements and the creation of unique war stories. New tools for creating maps and locations are available, as well as better options for friends and clans to play together as a group. Communication will be optimized.
