We already know that Homeworld 3 is the long-awaited direct sequel to Homeworld 2, in which 3D space battles can finally be fought in the Homeworld universe again. These were missing in the spin-off Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.
What will Homeworld 3 be about?
(Warning: Spoilers for Homeworld 2!) At the end of Homeworld 2, the so-called Eye of Aarran is discovered and opened by the Hiigarans. This is a network of hyperspace gates. The discovery of the Eye of Aarran, according to the epilogue of Homeworld 2, leads to a new era of science and peace.
In the announcement trailer for Homeworld 3, you can see how several, probably Hiigaran space ships make a jump through the Eye of Aarran. Where it takes them and what mission objectives they pursue is not revealed. But we can be sure that the secrets of the Eye of Aarran will endanger peace.
3D space battles return
Developer Blackbird Interactive has announced large space battles in which you have to tactically deploy your units - from the smallest space flitzer to the largest destroyer.
Homeworld 3 is not due to be released for PC until the fourth quarter of 2022, but we hope that Blackbird Interactive will not make us wait so long for new details about the next Homeworld adventure.
