Horror game remakes - 2023 will be a really good year

You know how it is. You think about how great it would be to play that one video game from childhood again. In memory, it always sounds great, but when you actually do it, you're quickly disappointed. You just remembered the graphics, gameplay, and story better and are somehow disappointed.

If that's how you feel, then we have just the right thing for you. Remakes of the best horror video game classics. And although the graphics and story have been adjusted and optimized, you still feel the nostalgia when playing - promised! The list begins with a classic from 2008.

Dead Space Remake

This sci-fi horror game sent shivers down players' spines over 14 years ago. A mix of disgustingly looking aliens, a dark game world, and a soundscape that scared people, Dead Space was a must for all horror fans. The game still has many fans today, and they have been looking forward to the release of the remake since it was announced. The developer promises that all assets and effects have been completely revised and even the dialogue has been expanded.

Owners of an Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 or gaming PC can be scared by Dead Space Remake from January.

Release Date: January 27, 2023
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Resident Evil 4

There have been no shortage of Resident Evil games and remakes lately. So it's no surprise that after Resident Evil 2 and 3, Resident Evil 4 is also being remade. The original was released in 2004 and a lot has changed in terms of technology since then. The "over the shoulder" camera was introduced in the game for the first time. The developer promises that there will be some new twists in the story of the Resident Evil 4 Remake.

PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC owners can look forward to March 2023. And no, we haven't forgotten to list the Xbox One version. There is no information about an Xbox One version of the game.

Release Date: March 24, 2023

Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC

System Shock

Many people probably have more questions than answers when it comes to System Shock, as the original game was released almost 30 years ago. System Shock was released in 1994 for MS-DOS. In System Shock, an FPS was mixed with an RPG, and quite successfully.

The original developer from back then, Night Dive Studios, is responsible for the System Shock Remake. Sometime in March, the journey into 1994 will begin.

Release Date: March 2023

Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC

Silent Hill 2

What would a good horror year be without a Silent Hill 2 Remake? The developer's last attempt at making a remake was disastrous. In 2012, a Silent Hill HD Collection was released and it was just disappointing.

What can be seen of the Silent Hill 2 Remake so far looks like an extremely good horror game. There is no exact release date yet, but in 2023 PC and PlayStation 5 players will be able to make the acquaintance of Red Pyramid Thing or Pyramid Head.

Release Date: 2023

Platforms: PS5, PC
