League of Legends - New pricing model for Champions

The award-winning MOBA game League of Legends (LoL) has recently confirmed that it will be introducing a new pricing model for Champions to make it easier for new players to acquire new Champions. The current pricing model, which only takes into account the age of the Champion, is outdated and is only slowly being updated.

The change will be implemented along with the League Of Legends 13.5 Patch on March 8th, 2023.

Categories for Champions

The new Champion pricing model will still take into account the age of the Champion, but it will no longer be directly tied to the release of a Champion. Champions will now be categorized to reflect their effectiveness and user-friendliness. The Champions that are best suited for new players will be the cheapest and will cost 450 Blue Essence (BE). Specialized Champions, on the other hand, will cost more and will cost around 3150 BE.

To make collecting new Champions easier, there will also be new Champion bundles that cover a variety of gameplay roles in each category and should be more cost-effective for players looking to quickly expand their collection.

Price Reductions and Increases

The price for new Champions will still be high, but after a week there will be a discount. The change will result in Champions such as Singed, Kayle, Twisted Fate, and Ryze becoming more expensive as it is more difficult for new players to be successful with them.

Overall, the price for the Champion catalog will be significantly lowered to make it easier for players to have fun with League of Legends.
