Vel'Koz in League of Legends: An Overview
Vel'Koz, the Eye of the Void, has already received several buffs in Season 13 of League of Legends. These buffs have increased his true damage and base stats. However, Riot Games doesn't seem to be done with him yet, as there are now additional "experimental" buffs on the LoL PBE.
Why is Vel'Koz receiving more buffs?
Despite the previous improvements, Vel'Koz's play rate remains relatively low compared to other control mages in the MOBA. He finds himself at the bottom end of the League of Legends mid-lane tier list. Therefore, it seems that the developers are determined to further strengthen him.
"Experimental" Changes to Vel'Koz
The new changes mainly affect Vel'Koz's E ability, Void Rift. The travel time of this ability now scales with distance and varies between 0.25s and the original 0.55s. Additionally, the ability now appears at the target location instead of at Vel'Koz himself.
What does this mean for players?
- These changes make it harder to dodge Vel'Koz's E ability, especially when it is thrown over a wall.
- Vel'Koz now has better defensive options against champions with high mobility.
Looking to the Future
It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the overall League of Legends meta. However, we can already say that these are great news for Vel'Koz mains. And we are excited for the upcoming content in Season 14 of League of Legends!
