Release Date for Like a Dragon Gaiden
The Yakuza series is getting a new installment with Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which puts the fan-favorite Kiryu back in the spotlight. According to a leak from the PlayStation Store, the release for this exciting title is planned for November 9th, 2023. The game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
Action-Adventure instead of RPG Gameplay
Unlike the RPG-heavy Like A Dragon, Like a Dragon Gaiden will focus more on action-adventure. This means we can look forward to real-time battles against villains and a new taste of what the Yakuza series has to offer.
Kiryu's story between Yakuza 6 and Like A Dragon 8
The plot of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name takes place after the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and fills in important gaps in the story before continuing with Like A Dragon 8. The focus is on Kiryu, who has given up his violent Yakuza life and embarks on a new adventure under the alias "Joryu."
Mini-games, fighting styles, and more
In addition to the classic, unique fighting style of Like A Dragon, according to the PSDeals leak, we can also look forward to fun mini-games like karaoke, cabaret, and racing. Additionally, Kiryu will be able to switch between Yakuza and agent fighting styles.
Kiryu as a key role in Yakuza 8
Since Kiryu will play an important role in Like A Dragon 8, it is likely that the story of Like a Dragon Gaiden will end with a cliffhanger to keep us hooked until the next full version of the series.
