Lost Ark - The roadmap for a better player experience

An Open Letter to Players

Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG recently released an open letter to players of Lost Ark, sharing their thoughts and plans for the future of the game in the West. The developers aim to continuously improve the Lost Ark experience, introduce exciting content, and listen to player feedback. In this article, we take a look at some of the planned changes and improvements.

Combatting Bots and Creating a Welcoming Environment for New Players

The developers have recognized that bots are a major issue in Lost Ark and are working hard to remove them from the game. At the same time, they also want to ensure that new players feel welcome and have an easier time getting started in the game. This includes reducing unnecessary content, improving progression for alt characters, and introducing QoL updates.

The Planned Improvements in Detail

Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG have planned a series of improvements that will be implemented in the coming months. These include:

  • Improvements for low-level players: The number of required equipment upgrades will be reduced to make Legion Raids more accessible.
  • Horizontal content improvements: Collecting runes, tripods, cards, and gems will be made easier for all players.
  • Alt-character progression improvements: Further expansion of the "Silver Honing" system and optimization of engraving/gem placement for alt-characters.
  • QoL updates: Reduction of other unnecessary and time-consuming activities when developing alt-characters.
  • Battle item experience improvement: Free use of battle items in earlier Tier Guardian Raids.

These changes will take some time to implement, but the goal is to have them in place by the end of summer or early fall.

Player Exhaustion and Content Pacing

The developers are aware that frequent content updates can lead to increased exhaustion and gatekeeping. Therefore, they are working on revising the Argos Abyss Raids to make the learning curve easier and reduce the number of patterns in the raid. In addition, daily grinding in Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids, and Una's Tasks will be reduced. A new activity called Ebony Cube will be introduced, which combines Boss Rush and Dimension Cube.

Regarding the pace of content releases, the developers emphasize that their goal is to introduce content as quickly as possible without causing issues. However, they promise that new classes will be updated (at least) as quickly as possible. In-game events will also be integrated faster, with some exclusive to the West and others taking place simultaneously with Korea.

A Thank You to the Players

As a thank you for the support and dedication to Lost Ark, the developers have prepared a gift for all players. Upon first login, players will receive various items in their product inventory, including a Mokoko Skin Selection Chest, a Moko Pet Selection Chest, a Mokoboard Selection Chest, and much more. These items can be redeemed by anyone who logs into the game before May 19th.

Conclusion

The developers of Lost Ark still have a long way to go to implement all the planned improvements, but this open letter is a first step towards open communication and positive changes in the game. Players can look forward to future updates and exciting content, while Amazon Games and Smilegate RPG continue to work closely with the community to create the best possible gaming experience.
