Mechabellum Developer Diary: The Successful Early Access Launch

Dear Commanders! Congratulations on the successful early access launch of Mechabellum with an impressive recommendation rate of 91%! In this first developer diary, we would like to inform you about the upcoming plans for the game, present a rough roadmap, and address some questions from the community.

The Roadmap for Mechabellum

Important Note: Game development is complex and full of uncertainties. Therefore, the roadmap is subject to change. Here is an overview of our plans until the end of August:

  • By the end of June: Improvements to matchmaking, speeding up gameplay by coordinating players, reducing spectator delay in automatches and tournaments, improved reporting system, balancing adjustments, quality improvements, and new unit technologies.
  • By the end of July: Introduction of the Credits Store, new device "Missile Interceptor", fortification upgrades for core buildings, optimization of replay playback, lobby UI layout optimization, and additional unit technologies and reinforcement cards.
  • By the end of August: AI takeover of teammates in 2v2 games, more compact 2v2 map, super-sized unit "War Factory", and unit skins in the Credits Store.
  • Further in the future: 4-player free-for-all mode, optimization of survival mode, two new core units ("Wraith" and "Scorpion"), and 4-6 experimental units as bosses in survival mode.

Answers to Community Questions

Here are some answers from the developers to frequently asked questions from the player community:

Is Mechabellum pay-to-win?

"No. We have no plans to introduce pay-to-win elements into the game."

Will there be more updates for the game?

"Absolutely! We have big plans for the Early Access phase and will continue to release updates even after the official release to improve gameplay."

Improvements to matchmaking?

"Yes, we are already working on a new matchmaking system that is expected to be introduced in June and will further improve the existing system. Our goal is to provide a better experience for automatch players and ensure that they compete against suitable opponents."

Speeding up gameplay?

"In the future, we will automatically speed up fights in certain situations and introduce a feature where players on both sides can vote to make the fight go faster."

Are Sentry Missiles too powerful?

"Although Sentry Missiles are currently very strong, they damage the player economically in the long run. We believe that their strength is appropriate and adds more strategic depth to the game."

What about the nuclear weapons in the research center?

"We have decided to remove the nuclear weapons from the research center and instead offer them as a reinforcement card for 350 units. This should help weaker players better assess the right timing for their use."

Will new units be added?

"Yes! We plan to introduce three more core units, a super-sized unit, a medium ground unit, and a medium air unit. We are also working on experimental versions of existing units that will appear as bosses in survival mode and can later be used as reinforcement cards in PvP combat. In the future, we also want to introduce more non-mech units."

That's it for today! We hope you enjoyed this insight into the plans for Mechabellum. If you have any further questions, ask them in the comments or on the respective Discord server, and the developers will try to answer them in the next developer diary. Have fun playing and see you next time!
