Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond - A game or already a documentary?

With Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, the makers of Titanfall and Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment, took the plunge into the world of VR games. The Medal of Honor series is supposed to return to its roots.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond: A game or already a documentary?

So in Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond it is by no means about taking on the role of a superhuman supersoldier and operating behind enemy lines. Instead, the fate of the simple soldiers and the civilian population takes center stage.

You slip into the role of a soldier or agent of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS for short) and end up in war-torn Europe. According to official information, you can expect an immersive and believable gaming experience in World War II. The story of Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is based on historical events of the 1940s and offers air, land or sea battles.

In the end, it should feel like you've "climbed into a time machine and landed behind the front lines of World War II," the developers of Respawn Entertainment comment on their work. In order to realistically portray the efforts of the simple soldiers in Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond, numerous conversations were held with veterans or survivors of World War II, according to the developers, and the corresponding stories were used to prepare the past for future generations using state-of-the-art technology. Given the subject matter, it is only natural that the first VR installment of Medal of Honor is aimed solely at adults.

The responsible parties at Respawn Entertainment leave nothing to chance when it comes to the soundscape and have commissioned Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer Michael Giacchino, who already worked on the soundtrack of the first Medal of Honor adventure from 1999.

In addition to the single-player campaign, which consists of three acts, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond also offers an online multiplayer component that is supposed to provide intense firefights in virtual reality. Promised are, on the one hand, classic modes such as deathmatch as well as modes that, according to the developers, are only possible on the basis of the current VR headsets.
