The parent company of Facebook, Meta, has announced that the sale of new virtual reality headsets in Germany will not start until 2022. The Federal Cartel Office has given Meta the green light, so the sales start is no longer in the way.
This is good news for virtual reality fans, as the sale of Oculus products has been paused due to ongoing talks with German regulatory authorities. Originally, Meta wanted every new Oculus user to sign up for a Facebook account in order to operate their headset. This was a thorn in the authorities' side.
Investigation completed
These have prevailed in the long-standing dispute, Meta is now selling its VR headset without the originally desired Facebook connection. Instead, the headset requires a Meta account with name, avatar and profile picture. This account serves as preparation for the Metaverse. This completes the investigation by the Federal Cartel Office and Meta is now allowed to bring its product back to the market in Germany. The now renamed Meta Quest 2 should be available later this year.

Players can act in a casino, because chips, cards and all other objects behave as usual. The interactive environment of the game world offers gamers a new gaming experience. This is also the case with the car manufacturer Audi, for example, which connects a VR headset with the driving car and thus offers the gamer a so-called "Elastic Content", which at the same time prevents the players from suffering from travel sickness during the journey.
