Just before the release of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S, Microsoft caused a real earthquake in the gaming industry last year. Out of nowhere, the company announced the takeover of ZeniMax Media, which of course includes gaming giants such as Bethesda, MachineGames or id Software. Now, about half a year after the announcement, the 7.5 billion US dollar deal seems to have gone through.
What it means in detail that big brands like Wolfenstein, DOOM, The Elder Scrolls or Fallout now belong to the Xbox group is currently not clear. But especially for owners of a PS5, the big worry starts now, because it cannot be ruled out that Sony's new flagship console will be left out in the cold for individual very popular game series in the future.
First information about Game Pass
Microsoft is apparently going to shed some light on the matter in the next few days. A video presentation on Thursday, March 11, is now to deal first and foremost with the future of Game Pass. Here, Game Pass subscribers are likely to find out what effect the ZeniMax deal has on the Game Pass offer, i.e. which games they can look forward to in the future. However, an official announcement of the presentation is still pending.
When there will be more details about the exact consequences of the ZeniMax takeover is not yet clear. But we at Keyfuchs keep you regularly up to date with the latest developments so that you know early on whether your favorite game will actually be released for your platform.
