Microsoft's Acquisition of Activision Blizzard - EU Commission Delays Decision Until April

The European Commission has postponed its decision on Microsoft's planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard until April 25th. EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager was cautious and stressed that the EU has the highest requirements and most serious legal obligations.

Xbox head Phil Spencer participated in hearings in both the EU and the UK last month. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority released a provisional report suggesting Microsoft should drop Call of Duty from the deal. The CMA's full report will be released on April 26th. The US Federal Trade Commission is suing Microsoft to stop the deal, but the Communication Workers of America are supporting the purchase.
