Mortal Kombat 1 welcomes back two familiar faces
Hey, do you remember Smoke and Rain from the Mortal Kombat universe? Well, they're back! That's right, Mortal Kombat's first installment welcomes these two old veterans back onto the battlefield. We haven't seen either of them in action for a while, but now they're ready to dive back into the fray.
Smoke is back - in human form!
Remember Smoke? This mysterious fighter first appeared as a hidden character in Mortal Kombat 2 in 1993, and then made another appearance in Mortal Kombat 3. After a 16-year hiatus, he's finally back. But this time, it's different. In Mortal Kombat 1, he returns in human form to save the planet.
Rain - The Master of All Water Affairs
Alongside Smoke, Mortal Kombat 1 also welcomes Rain back to the roster. The demigod, whose last appearance was as a DLC character in MK11 in 2019, is a master of all water affairs. In his return, we see him fighting against Scorpion and utilizing a variety of long-range water attacks.
From Cameo Appearances to Explosive Moves
The return of these two characters also brings along a series of cameo appearances. For example, Cyrax makes a guest appearance in the fight with Smoke. The yellow cyber ninja attacks his enemies with grenades and impales them with a saw during the fight sequence.
But other familiar faces like Frost and Sektor also have their big moments in the combat of Mortal Kombat 1. And of course, Scorpion cannot be absent, as he is seen during the first fight with Sub-Zero.
Ready for the Return of the Legends?
As someone who absolutely loved playing Smoke in Mortal Kombat 2011, I am overjoyed to see him make a comeback. Even though I don't see it as the end of the world, the fluidity of his abilities is exactly what I've been looking for in a character.
