NieR Replicant - Can there be a true revival?

When NieR was released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, it surprised fans of Japanese action games with its untypical but deep characters, an unpredictable story with multiple endings, and an iconic soundtrack. The only problem: The cult classic already looked outdated back then. In addition, the European audience was presented with a protagonist adapted to Western habits.

The "real" NieR experience in modern guise

In Japan, NieR was actually released under the title NieR Replicant. The Japanese original is now the basis for a new version that will be released in April 2021 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Video game giant Square Enix has really gone to great lengths to bring NieR into the year 2021. Graphically, the game is now on par with the 2017 release of NieR: Automata.

More than just a new look: The gameplay of NieR Replicant has been significantly improved

You can also expect that fights will flow more smoothly and in the style of NieR: Automata. So NieR: Replicant is not just getting a graphic polish. Despite this, the action role-playing game will not be a true remake. As far as is known so far, the plot has not been changed. You set out on the side of the talking book Grimoire Weiss to find a cure for a mysterious plague that threatens the life of your sister.

With NieR Replicant, a dusty classic could experience a true revival. We already like the new look. And finally, fans can play with the original protagonist. Keep an eye out for the best deals in our comparison portal.
