Outlast Update - Introducing Program Omega Ω

Exciting New Features in Outlast Update

The latest Outlast update brings several interesting new features, including bug fixes, user experience improvements, and adjustments based on player feedback. One particularly exciting addition is the introduction of an experimental special event: Program Omega Ω. The goal is to optimize the gaming experience for solo players and improve the early game experience for first-time users.

The Special Event: Program Ω

Outlast introduces its first special event in this update: Program Omega Ω. This event is designed specifically for reagents who are looking for the ultimate co-op challenge. It unlocks at the same time as Program X and is only available for a limited time.

The most important details about the Omega program are:

  • Group required (2-4 players)
  • Therapy level 20+ recommended
  • New Variator: Stick Together

New Variator: Stick Together

The new Variator "Stick Together" applies to all tests in the Omega program. Players must stay close to their friends or they will take damage. Additionally, the range of the voice chat is limited, so it's advisable to stay close to other group members.

Solo Play Improvements

Adjustments have also been made in the update to improve the solo player experience. This includes giving players unlimited respawns in solo play, but with a penalty for each respawn. Additionally, respawns in solo play now restore 100% health (previously 50%). Enemies and main targets will no longer be as close to objects, and AI behavior has been adjusted.

Other Changes and Bug Fixes

In addition to the mentioned improvements, changes have been made to arm wrestling, recipes, rigs, as well as general improvements and adjustments. Bug fixes have also been made.

In the future, Outlast aims to focus on the following key areas:

  1. Rewarding effort even in the case of a failed test
  2. Punishing group players who do not participate in tests
  3. Improving the test selection process as a group
  4. Further improving the solo experience
  5. Improving AI behavior in certain specific situations
