Overwatch 2 - The Latest Patch Notes & Updates

Overwatch 2 Patch Notes - July 11, 2023

The latest Overwatch 2 patch notes have just received a stealthy update. The DPS hero Symmetra has received a buff and is now even stronger than initially suggested. The mid-season patch of Overwatch 2 brings quite a few hero changes, with a special focus on the turret masters Symmetra and Torbjörn. However, there is no doubt that the biggest winner of the update is Symmetra.

In addition to the hero balance updates, the patch also includes some changes to On Fire, making it a bit more challenging to achieve and maintain, and introduces the new Overwatch 2 team queue. There are some nice improvements to several Overwatch 2 characters, such as additional damage reduction for Orisa's Fortify and improved spread for Sojourn's Railgun.

Symmetra's Buff

Symmetra's Photon Projector has received a significant boost in effectiveness. Its secondary fire, the charged balls, now deal more damage on direct hits - meaning that Symm can take out a large portion of the cast with just two well-placed shots. Her Sentry Turrets now only deal minimal damage per second instead of the previous value, but they retain their slowing effect and make enemy heroes visible while dealing damage to them.

The patch notes also mention "conditional shield health regeneration." This means that she regenerates up to a certain amount of shield health per second when attacking barriers or enemies with their own shield health using her primary fire.

Adjustments to "On Fire"

  • Fixed a bug where players would receive the "On Fire" status at the beginning of a new round in competitive play or quick play in Control game mode.
  • Maintaining the "On Fire" status for longer periods of time has become more challenging.

New Game Modes

The Overwatch 2 patch also introduces new game modes. This includes the Team Queue mode, which allows you to jump into an unrestricted five-on-five showdown with your best crew. If you want to learn more about this mode or are interested in Overwatch 2 keys, be sure to check out our website!

In addition, the Event Hub has been introduced - a central location for event information accessible from the main menu. All event challenges, rewards, and modes are listed here.

More Hero Updates

In addition to Symmetra, other characters have also been reworked. For example, Orisa has received an increased damage reduction with her Fortify ability, and the spread of Sojourn's Railgun has been improved.
