What Planet Zoo is all about
The gameplay of Planet Zoo is quickly explained. You take on the role of a manager of a zoo. You make sure that your animals are housed as best as possible and that they are happy. But the visitors of the zoo have to be satisfied as well. Gradually you earn more and more money, which you can spend immediately to buy new, rare animals, enclosures, zoo buildings and decorations. In sandbox mode you can build your perfect zoo at your own pace.
Current information on Planet Zoo
Planet Zoo has been released for a few months now. However, only players on PC can still use this lovingly designed zoo simulation. Since the release date at the end of 2019, a number of DLCs have already been released. The last expansion pack was made available at the beginning of April 2020. The theme of this is South America. Five new animals from the South American jungle can now move into your enclosures. Of course, these animals all need their own special enclosures and living conditions. The optimal adaptation is guaranteed not to be easy, but such challenges are exactly what good simulators are all about. In addition, there are over 250 new objects with which you can create an breathtaking South American-influenced landscape in your zoo.
At the same time as the last DLC, Planet Zoo also received an update to a new version (version 1.2). This includes, among other things:
- Changes in animal habits
- New different difficulty levels
- A better overview of the wishes and satisfaction of the guests
- Changes in the research system
- Smaller UI adjustments
- An overview of the ancestry of your own animals
Planet Zoo's target audience
Patience is definitely a virtue with simulations like Planet Zoo. There's no great story behind the game, and you won't find any action either. But none of that is necessary. If you enjoy designing a zoo down to the smallest detail with loving care, experiencing beautiful graphics including a variety of animals, and the financial challenge of managing a zoo, Planet Zoo is the right place for you.

The company was founded in 1994. The first game Frontier: Elite II was a worldwide success. In further course Frontier Developments published a variety of games. However, for almost 15 years now, the focus has been on building simulations. In particular, the topics of zoo and amusement park have been repeatedly addressed. So in 2004 Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, 2012 Coaster Crazy and 2016 Planet Coaster were published. Zoo Tycoon is to be mentioned as a predecessor to Planet Zoo.
