A new star in the portal sky
Friends, it's time to return to the Aperture Science Enrichment Center! No, Valve hasn't secretly hidden a third installment of Portal under the Christmas tree. But a dedicated team of developers is working on a mod called System Failure that will allow us to once again play with the iconic portals and bring a fresh twist to the story.
What can we expect?
System Failure takes place a whole 15 years after the main game and promises to be an exciting expansion of the world. And believe me, just the first video will leave you wanting more.
The Mod in Detail
The project is still in its early stages, but what we have seen so far looks promising. In one scene, for example, we hear the improvised dialogue for Portal Core Flynn - and it sounds pretty awesome.
The goal of System Failure is to expand the world of Portal 2 and immerse us in a new story. You take on the role of an unknown test subject who suddenly wakes up in one of the test chambers. But don't worry, you're not alone: a rogue AI and a new personality core are also part of the adventure.
Inspired by other mods
The team behind System Failure draws inspiration from other successful Portal mods, such as Portal Stories: Mel. The result is intended to be a cinematic narrative with completely new characters and original music.
Even though System Failure is still in its early stages, the feeling and atmosphere of the original game are already palpable. The team is still looking for reinforcements in the form of puzzle designers, level designers, modelers, and texture artists. But I'm sure this project has great potential. So keep an eye on it!
