PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS - Changes to Map Service Plans for 2023

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS announces new map rotation plans for 2023

Have you heard about the changes in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' map rotation plans? Last month, the team released a roadmap for 2023 that aims to introduce a new rotation system for maps, allowing players faster access to their favorite maps. The updates will be implemented on April 12 for PC and April 20 for consoles.

Weekly map rotations starting with Update 23.1

Starting with Update 23.1, maps will rotate on a weekly basis in both Normal Match and Ranked Mode. The changes are as follows:

  • Normal Matches (one-week cycle):
    • Fixed: Erangel / Sanhok
    • Rotation set 1: Taego / Deston / Paramo
    • Rotation set 2: Miramar / Vikendi / Karakin
    • Rotation sets 1 and 2 alternate weekly.
  • Ranked Mode (one season cycle):
    • Erangel / Miramar / Taego / Deston

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS team's goal for map rotations

The main goal of the team is to cater to the different preferences of players and offer them a variety of maps. That's why they've decided on five maps for Normal Match and four for Ranked. This way, both variety and mastery can be provided.

In Normal Match, Erangel and Sanhok remain fixed while Rotation sets 1 and 2 alternate weekly. This allows players to regularly play different maps. The map rotation will be applied without maintenance after the 23.1 update.

Haven not in rotation pool & Sanhok remains fixed

Due to low usage, Haven is not included in the Normal Match rotation pool but can still be played in custom games. Sanhok remains fixed due to global map preferences.

Ranked Mode map rotation

In Ranked, four maps will rotate approximately every two months in a season cycle. After the 23.1 update, Erangel, Miramar, Taego, and Deston will be in service. Erangel, Miramar, and Taego will be set for 2023, so players can also play these maps in Esports.

The probability of rotations may change depending on performance. Vikendi could be added as a rotation map in Ranked in the future.
