Raft - Future plans of the developer

Second Chapter, Battle Royal and more? That's what's in store for the future of Raft

Raft is cult. The small indie game of yesteryear has had an remarkable career and has long since mutated from a hidden gem to a perennial favorite. Almost every prominent YouTuber has at least once sat on the raft, defied the shark and worked on a sustainable basis.

The recipe for success is simple but brilliant: The developers of Redbeet Interactive have continuously listened to the community, made meaningful changes and adapted the game to current desires and needs. 2020 will also be eventful.

The last update was released in December

In December, players were delighted with the update 10, which appropriately was called The First Chapter. The mere designation made it clear that players could expect new challenges in the coming months. The update not only completed the current game principle, but also filled the pixel world with new life.

Literally: With bears and lurkers, two new creatures were found, while new locations were introduced and equipped with fresh puzzles. In addition, players enjoyed new construction options for oars, tubing system and engine. Even the receiver, with the help of which new islands can be found, has undergone a general overhaul.

Raft Royale? Just an April Fool's joke

That survival games with battle royale elements are an effective sales success has been proven in recent years. It therefore didn't seem far-fetched at all that Raft could take a new path. According to Redbeet Interactive, the in-house game should be expanded with a aptly named mode called Raft Royale. And to be fair: The pixel world would have given it that, since players have been stranded on Balboa Island more and more often in recent years to face new challenges.

The members of the Steam community have been discussing enthusiastically. While some were looking forward to the new mode with its various options, others seemed annoyed because they consider the entire genre to be worn out and old-fashioned. Still other users were not confused at all by the sudden news. They looked at the date and knew what was going on: It was just an April Fool's joke. A day later, the developers confirmed that they had abandoned the project that had never been started. Raft Royale remains a joke for the time being.

What's the deal with the Second Chapter?

Very true and authentic are the work on The Second Chapter, the second chapter of the ever-evolving Raft world. What exactly it is, can only be speculated at the moment. The first chapter ended with the player finding themselves on Balboa Island, having to solve puzzles and eventually stumbling over coordinates. Problem: With those, nothing could be done so far!

It seems that players can look forward to a new island: Caravan Island. But how big or extensive it and the associated tasks are, is up in the stars. Many a player hopes to find new NPCs, perhaps even former residents of Balboa Island, who, somehow, have found and inhabited a new home.

Redbeet would hardly advertise a new chapter if they did not have great ideas and plans. Until then, there is only one thing: wait and drink tea! Players who have not yet gone on an adventure, but finally want to start, should orient themselves on our price comparison! The Raft Key must not be expensive at all. Are you ready for an unforgettable survival spectacle?
