Rainbow Six Siege Dread Factor: New Operator and Exciting Changes - What to Expect in the New Season

Release date and first information about Dread Factor

When is the Rainbow Six Siege Dread Factor release date? Ubisoft has been teasing the new operator and season for a while now, but since the reveal on May 14, 2023, we finally know what to expect, from balance changes to the new operator and more.

Below is an overview of everything coming in this new season. In addition to big changes like a new map rework and the new operator that comes with every season, there are also many quality of life improvements in Dread Factor.

What to Expect in the New Season of Rainbow Six Siege

The release date for Rainbow Six Siege's Dread Factor season is May 30th, 2023, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This is the second season in the game's eighth year and brings a new operator, a reworked map, and more.

In addition to the new operator and map rework, additional improvements include enhancements to the shooting range, such as a breakable wall. A new playlist is also being introduced permanently, covering arcade modes for quick matches. The included modes are Headshots Only, Snipers Only, Golden Gun, Deathmatch, and the new Free For All mode.

Rainbow Six Siege Fenrir

Fenrir is a new tactical defender in Dread Factor with a two-speed and two-armor rating. The operator, hailing from Sweden, has the F-NATT Dread Mine gadget. This releases gas that creates the Fear effect, which restricts a person's field of vision and works best when covering entrances.

In addition, Fenrir's loadout includes an MP7 or Spas-12 as a primary weapon and the BALIFF 401 as a secondary weapon.

Rainbow Six Siege Consulate Rework

The Consulate receives a major rework in Rainbow Six Dread Factor. The map is redesigned to be more balanced, rewarding, and complex. The attacker spawns have been moved to "reduce frustration and increase safety," resulting in fewer vulnerable outdoor areas and easier access for attackers to the main building.

In addition to this rework, there are a number of balancing changes in the game, including a brand new Observation Blocker gadget. This is a barrier that blocks the line of sight of drones and other tools, preventing them from detecting operators or other devices. Grim's gadget is also improved, with larger and longer swarms for his devices.

New controller layouts are also coming to consoles and PC, with alternative shooting and crouch inputs, as well as a free camera.

That should cover everything you need to know about the latest update for Rainbow Six Siege and the Rainbow Six Siege Dread Factor release date. As you can see, Ubisoft has invested a lot in this new season, and some big changes are undoubtedly in store for one of the best competitive FPS games when the new season launches.
