Rainbow Six Siege - Player-friendly updates in Year 8 and beyond

A Year in Review

One of the biggest problems for PvP shooter players across the entire genre is cheating and toxic behavior. Over the past 12 months, Rainbow Six Siege and its Player Support team have realigned the way we think and develop features to tackle this challenge. This has led to the development of two industry-first systems that we call MouseTrap and QB. These two systems have already had an enormously positive impact on the health of our game.

The Player Support team's work at Rainbow Six Siege has been focused intensively on implementing community feedback and ensuring transparency.

Latest Publications

MouseTrap

MouseTrap is a new detection system that punishes the use of mouse and keyboard on consoles by adding additional input delays (or lag) for identified players, encouraging them to go back to using their controller. The aim is to establish a true balance between competition and skill to enhance fair play in Rainbow Six Siege. The data shows a significant reduction in mouse and keyboard users on consoles.

QB

Released on November 8, 2022, QB is one of the latest PC anti-cheat features. This system has already contributed to the banning of over 10,000 cheaters.

Reputation Penalties

Since March 8, 2023, players who engage in abusive behavior in voice chat after two warnings will receive a penalty, and their voice chat will be muted by default for the next 30 games.

Year 9 will bring further improvements to the reputation system.

Coming in Year 8

The developers are committed to ensuring a safe environment and a fair experience for all players. Many features are currently being developed to enhance player protection and will be released throughout Year 8.

  • Player Praise System - This new system aims to amplify and promote positivity in our community.
  • Reputation System - The reputation system will receive multiple updates this year.
  • Privacy Mode on Console - The privacy mode will be introduced on console before the end of Year 8.
  • Ranking Requirements - During Year 8 & 9, we will take initial steps to protect the game's competitive integrity.

Stay tuned throughout the remainder of Year 8 and beyond to discover more updates that will make Rainbow Six Siege fair and safe for everyone.
