Part 1: The Reputation System and its Stability
Hey gamers, have you heard about the Reputation System in Rainbow Six Siege? Since its introduction, Ubisoft has made several shadow updates to improve both the fundamentals of this system and the stability of player ranks. With Y8S1 (Year 8 Season 1), further changes have been made to ensure that negative actions of a player appropriately impact their rank.
The goal is clear: ranks should not change from game to game. But don't worry! Changes are still happening, but only when justified.
Part 2: Additional Detection and Action History
But Ubisoft hasn't just been working on the system's stability. To expand their knowledge of disruptive player actions, they now track additional conditions. An example of this is player-caused crashes that could indicate DDOS attacks. This allows them to track a wider range of actions and take appropriate measures against abuse.
Action history and future plans
At the beginning of the reputation system, Ubisoft focused on a limited time frame for penalties. However, over time, the system became more robust and the response to reputation penalties was great. Therefore, they expanded the scope over which the system looks for negativity. This allows the system to more accurately impose penalties on a larger group of offending players.
Y8S2 and beyond
In Operation Dread Factor, numerous improvements were made to make it clearer to players when and what penalties are active. Some of these changes include an activation banner that now only appears in the first round and a renamed penalty banner.
Looking ahead to the future of the reputation system
With the progress of the reputation system, Ubisoft plans to continue updating various areas. The Y8S2 update already brought improvements to the user interface for reputation penalties, and there will continue to be system-wide rebalancing as needed.
In Y8S3, several new features will be introduced. These aim to enhance players' insight into their reputation status and create new interaction opportunities. The main goal always remains the same - to improve the gaming experience in Rainbow Six Siege.
