Introduction
"Rainbow Six Siege" unveils the full details of Year 8 Season 3, which includes changes to Quick Match, a new R6 Operator, a player ranking system, and much more.
The latest reveal from "Rainbow Six Siege" confirms all the new features for Year 8 Season 3 of Ubisoft's FPS game, including a new Operator named Ram, a major change to Quick Match, and the introduction of a new player accolade system. The latest update for Rainbow Six Siege, Heavy Mettle, also receives a confirmed release date and introduces balance changes for some of the top Rainbow Six Siege operators.
The New Operator - Ram
Let's start with Ram, the new South Korean operator who is set to become the counterpart to the Breachers everywhere. Ram is a one-speed, three-armor operator equipped with a robotic device called BU-GI.
This little remote-controlled nightmare is driven through walls and floors to create new holes and vantage points from which to shoot the enemy. If you suspect someone is trying to work their way up from below, you can deploy BU-GI, quickly tear through the woodwork, and take out the enemy from above.
Ram's Equipment
Ram uses either the R4C or the LMG-E as her primary weapon and the MK1 or ITA12S as her secondary weapon. She comes alongside the second part of the balance changes for Grim and ahead of a rework for Frost, which will be adjusted later in Rainbow Six Year 8 Season 3.
Changes in Quick Match
Quick Match has also been significantly revamped. The round timer has been shortened, objective locations are automatically revealed, and bomb sites now come pre-reinforced, allowing defenders to redirect their attention elsewhere.
In addition, attackers now have a ten-second invulnerability window at the start of each action phase to prevent spawn peeks. It seems that the goal is to make Quick Match more efficient - more playtime and fewer issues.
New Modes and Improvements
Unranked has now been renamed to Standard mode, and Arcade introduces a setting called Weapon Roulette: all players start the match with the same weapon but receive new random weapons after a certain time. Tutorials have been added to make it easier to get into Siege (a blessing when trying to convince friends to join the game), and you can now remove the HUD during replays to take even better screenshots.
Awards System
Finally, the new awards system allows you to rate teammates based on various characteristics and behaviors. Players who consistently receive good ratings will receive in-game rewards, and Ubisoft states that they will continuously monitor the new system to ensure fair usage. All of these changes will be introduced with the release of Rainbow Six Siege Year 8 Season 3 on Tuesday, August 29th.
