Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - Technologies, Features, and System Requirements in Detail

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launches on PC!

Gamers, get ready to grab your mice and keyboards! Next week, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC. And I know you're eager to find out what the developers have in store. So let's dive in.

To provide you with seamless dimensional hopping, the development team has integrated DirectStorage 1.2 into Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. With this technology, they promise us fast loading times and instant transitions between dimensions.

Adaptive streaming for the ultimate texture experience

For Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on PC, there's adaptive streaming based on real-time measurement of available hardware bandwidth. This means that the texture streaming strategy adjusts to our configuration for the best possible gaming experience.

Ray-Traced Ambient Occlusion and XeGTAO

But that's not all! In addition to ray-traced reflections and newly added ray-traced shadows for natural outdoor lighting, there's now another option that makes the lighting in the game even more realistic: Ray-Traced Ambient Occlusion.

And if these terms don't mean anything to you - no problem! Ambient occlusion is a technique used in games to simulate how ambient lighting affects a scene. RTAO uses ray tracing to enhance the ambient occlusion in the game.

XeGTAO - Intel's Implementation of Ground-Truth Ambient Occlusion

In addition, the developers have implemented XeGTAO. This solution is based on screen space and therefore cannot provide the same level of realism as RTAO. But the performance cost is much lower and comparable to that of the HBAO+ implementation. XeGTAO can be selected as an option in the game and works with graphics cards from all providers.

System Requirements - Can Your Computer Handle It?

After exploring the technical features of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, let's move on to the system requirements. The developers make sure that you can enjoy the game even if your computer is not the latest and greatest.

But even if your hardware is modest - don't worry! With a fast NVMe SSD and GPU decompression, you can still fully enjoy the game.
