According to statements from Arkane, the developer studio behind the Dishonored series and Prey, the video game Redfall is more reminiscent of Ubisoft's Far Cry than Valve's Left 4 Dead.
Creative Director Ricardo Bare and Studio Director Harvey Smith said in an interview that Redfall has four playable characters and cooperative gameplay, but is more reminiscent of Far Cry because it is an open-world game.
Redfall Comes Without Cars
Smith added: "What if we transfer all of our experience and creative values into an open world?" Redfall will have no cars and will therefore offer a slower, more conscious pace, where you travel on foot through the world. Bae describes the game as "sneaking through a cornfield at night in the fog, hearing vampires whispering in the dark. Maybe you'll discover a farmhouse in the distance and sneak up to find that it's full of sect members and a few captive survivors that you can save."
A release date for Redfall has not been announced yet, but it has been confirmed that the game will come before Starfield, which is scheduled for the first half of 2023.
