Resident Evil 3 Remake - Ready for Hell

The new edition of the successful horror game Resident Evil 3 by Capcom takes place in the infected city of Raccoon City, just like its predecessor Resident Evil 2. You alternate between the roles of S.T.A.R.S. agent Jill Valentine and Umbrella mercenary Carlos Oliveira and experience firsthand how the T-virus-triggered disease is ravaging the city and turning all humans into gruesome zombies. The top priority is therefore to flee Raccoon City. However, the bioweapon Nemesis is close behind you, as well as thousands of bloodthirsty zombies, just waiting for you to make a mistake.

The well-known Japanese game developer Capcom is also known for games in the Monster Hunter series, Street Fighter, Dead Rising and the classic Devil May Cry. The development team made its breakthrough in the survival horror scene in 1996 with the first part of the Resident Evil game series.

Action-packed and sadistic
Similar to some remakes, Resident Evil 3 will not stick to the original from 1999 one hundred percent. Some new features include the appearance of mercenary Carlos Oliveira, who will play a bigger role in the remake.

The game will put you in the shoes of Carlos or Jill for about five to six hours, depending on the task. You cannot choose which character to play as, as you switch characters at predetermined points in the remake. The two playable characters only differ slightly in terms of their weaponry.

Capcom also presented an asymmetrical multiplayer mode for its remake, known as Project Resistance. Here you have the opportunity to set traps and control monsters while your other players can simply kill the zombie.

The story generally benefits from its expressive characters and well-animated figures. You can, for example, switch the language between English and German at any time - depending on what you prefer.
Unlike its predecessor, Resident Evil 3 focuses more on action-packed gameplay. However, horror fans will still get their fill.

Despite innovations true to the original
Of course, anyone who played the original Resident Evil 3 will inevitably compare it to the remake – especially when it comes to the Nemesis weapon. The original title shone with the ability to make decisions that affected the course of the game. For example, you didn't have to spend hours gnawing at the tyrant, but you could decide for yourself whether you were up for the challenge or not.

The freedom of choice has also made it into the remake – but in a slightly altered form. So you still have the option of temporarily bringing Nemesis to his knees, although this requires quite a bit of skill. If you win, however, you will be rewarded with upgrades for your weapons, similar to the original.

However, the decisions do not further affect the course of the game. According to the developers, this was necessary in order to tell a unified story.

A must for all horror fans
Lovers of the Resident Evil series and horror fans will get their money's worth with the gruesome and nerve-wracking story of Jill and Carlos. So if you like to fight your way through hordes of zombies and are not intimidated by the impending danger of the bioweapon Nemesis, then Resident Evil 3 is the right place for you. If your focus is on more action than just bloody slaughter, you will definitely enjoy the game.
