Russian Electronic Arts - Russian Officials Consider Creating Their Own Gaming Industry

The motivation for a Russian EA has been in the air for a while and is now supposed to save the crumbling national game industry.

At a meeting of representatives of the technology sector and government officials in December last year, ideas were collected to keep the gaming industry alive. One of them was to generate a country-specific EA. This should also enable better marketing of high-quality Russian games.

Saving the Industry

To save the Russian game industry, there should be a financial injection - a decent one. For the relief measures, the authorities are planning to invest several billion US dollars. Whether it's all worth it is another matter.

The ARKIVS non-profit agency for the development of computer sports and other sports has prepared a document for this purpose in order to formulate concrete goals for saving the Russian game industry. In addition to the Russian EA, four Russian game engines are to be produced, two new game consoles are to be produced and one billion foreign users are to be won by 2030. Against the background of the still ongoing Ukraine war, the sanctions against the country and the mass exodus of many game companies, these goals seem far from achievable.
