Rust - 10 Years of Wild Survival

A Decade of Rust: The Journey of a Survival Giant

Who would have thought that here we are, ten years later, still hiding, hunting, and fighting in the desolate landscape of Rust? Since its release in 2013, this game has undergone an impressive evolution. From a simple browser game based on the Unity Engine 4 to a standalone version on Steam Early Access, the evolution of Rust is remarkable. From the fragile framework known as Rust Legacy, the game has grown into a robust giant that we know today. In these ten years, Rust has sold over 16 million copies (not counting console sales). But enough nostalgia - let's take a look at some of the latest developments!

New Features: Birthday Cake and More

In honor of its tenth anniversary, Rust is celebrating with in-game birthday cakes, hats, and some new items. From the pinata, where you can take your best shot and harvest sweet treats, to the confetti cannon that adds a festive atmosphere - the update has some surprises in store.

The Legacy Bow and other cool items

But the party doesn't stop here! With the Legacy Bow, which you can only acquire in December, and the first wooden building skin that changes your base design, Rust has some new tricks up its sleeve. And how about a tribute to the old times? With the Legacy Wood Shelter, you can relive your first steps in Rust. But be careful: you have to use it regularly to keep it!

The M4 Shotgun is back!

Remember the M4 Shotgun from Rust Legacy? Well, it's back - stronger than ever! This non-craftable military shotgun has a much stronger long-range attack and is a rare drop in high-quality loot crates.

The oven from old times

For all the nostalgia lovers out there, there is now the Legacy Oven - a free skin for the oven based on the original 2013 model. Just play for at least three hours in December and the oven will be automatically added to your Steam inventory for use.

Improved painting UI and shadow intensity

In addition to all the cool new items and features, Rust has also revamped its painting UI to make it more user-friendly and visually appealing. With many new features, improved tools, and an optimized 2D painting implementation, the painting UI is better than ever. Furthermore, the "Contact Shadow" option, which has been in the game's experimental area for a few years, has been improved. It provides a more realistic representation of shadows and light reflections.

On to the next decade!
