New Map Markers and Pings
The map markers in Rust have been revamped this month. The maximum number of markers has been increased to 5 and there are new controls to save helpful information along with the map. To place additional markers, use the right mouse button as usual. Pings are a new system that improves communication with your teammates when using reconnaissance tools such as cameras or binoculars.
Double Horse Saddle and World Model Refresh
With the new double saddle, two players can now ride a horse together – a great addition to the previous single-seater saddle. Additionally, Rust has received a refresh of the world models, allowing you to now identify whether you have dropped HV, incendiary, or regular rockets, among other things. There are also new models for the different types of shotgun shells.
Improvements to the Computer Station UI
This month, several improvements have been made to the computer station user interface. These include health bars, button controls, and a hold-to-sit function.
Additional Improvements and Fixes
- Alt-click on inventory items to ignore loot containers
- Individual floating items: when submarines and boats are destroyed, stored items fall into a floating container
- Vending machine genetics: vending machine and marketplace now display plant genetics
- Steam nickname fix: team UI now uses Steam nicknames
Game Analytics and Placing Doors on Building Blocks
This month, Rust is expanding its analytics platform by recording game statistics on official servers. Additionally, a bug has been fixed where doors could not be placed on building blocks – that should now be working!
Easter Event and Easter Store
Starting next week, an Easter egg hunt will occur every 24-38 in-game hours. You have 3 minutes to collect as many eggs as possible. The top 3 players will receive special eggs as a reward. The Easter store is also returning with the Egg suit, a paintable costume, and the Rustigé Egg, a miniature underwater lab scene inside.
