Rust Game Updates - Sleeping Bag Restrictions and Building Upgrades

Sleeping bag limitations and building upgrade effects in Rust

Hey gamers! This month, you can expect some exciting changes in Rust. The developers have decided to limit the maximum number of respawn options per player to 15. But don't worry, they are aware of this big change and believe it will lead to a more interesting player experience. Additionally, there are some cool improvements to the building upgrade effect. Let's take a closer look!

What has changed?

The most significant change concerns the limitation of respawn options through sleeping bags. Since October 2020, managing many sleeping bags has been simplified, but now they will be visible on the map while you are alive to make handling them easier. Additionally, you can release sleeping bags that you no longer need. For server owners, there is a command ("max_sleeping_bags") that allows them to change the maximum number of sleeping bags per server.

The building upgrade effect has also been improved: when upgrading a building block, it now constructs piece by piece within a second. Sounds cool, right?

Improvements and Fixes

Some other highlights of the improvements and fixes include:

  • Handmade shotgun ammunition
  • Vending machine trash
  • Pylon fixes
  • Building skin repair
  • Streamer mode skull
  • Increased shield resolution

Shipping Container Building Skin and Hammer Radial Menu Improvements

This month introduces a new building block skin designed after shipping containers. The initial color of the container blocks is random, with 16 different colors to choose from. You can also reskin the walls with the spray can alternative (RMB) in different colors. The hammer radial menu for switching building block skins has also been improved, allowing you to switch between building skins with Q and E.

Map Marker and Ping System Improvements

Due to player feedback, improvements have also been made to the map marker system and ping system. A list of current markers has been added to the map, and clicking on it will move the map to that marker. Each ping type now has a unique sound effect, and the compass briefly flashes to indicate the new ping.

Memory Pool Thread Safety Improvements

The internal memory pool thread safety has been optimized to avoid future performance issues when scaling multithreading, particularly in the areas of networking and serialization.

Twitch Drops - Bellum

From June 11th to 17th, Twitch Drops are enabled to support the Bellum event - a Hispanic community event featuring popular streamers such as Auronplay, Grefg, Ricoy, Agustabell, Illojuan, Rubius, and many others. For more information on drops, visit twitch.facepunch.com.

Those were the major updates for Rust this month! If you don't already own a Steam Key for the game, be sure to get one and experience all these great new features for yourself. Have fun playing and see you in the next update!
