Saints Row (2022) - What does the reboot bring with it?

Gamers have been familiar with the Saints Row series since 2006: A humorous response to the GTA formula. The mixture of open world and action will be rebooted in 2022. The fifth part of the series will be released under the reduced name Saints Row and will take players to the fictional city of Santo Ileso. Saints Row is set to release for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PCs.

Release, developer, and more - important facts about Saints Row

Fans of the Saints Row series have been waiting for the announcement of a new part for almost eight years: The first release of Saints Row IV took place in 2013. Therefore, the reveal of the sequel Saints Row at the Gamescom in August 2021 was given great attention. Even the title proves that this is a reboot that wants to renew the series. The developer studio Volition, previously responsible for every main part of the series, is also taking over the realization of the project this time. Once again, the studio Deep Silver is available as a publisher.

With Saints Row, the goal is to present a new gaming experience with fresh characters and stories rather than to surpass the absurdity level of the predecessors. This is also because, as Chief Creative Officer Jim Boone said in interviews, crazy places like hell can no longer be surpassed. The new beginning will offer the series a new gaming experience, so this is not a remake of the first part - despite the same name. While the four predecessors were sometimes interwoven narratively, this will not be the case in detail with the fifth part. The thus designed reboot is supposed to be playable according to the announcement in February 2022.

The special features of the fifth part

You as a player slip into the role of a self-created character in Saints Row who has to assert himself in the American city of Santo Ileso together with his friends Nina, Eli and Kevin. There they meet tough gangs like the Los Panteros, the Marshalls and the Idols. This time Saints Row does not rely on superpowers
