Ahoy, pirates! That was August in Sea of Thieves!
It's been a whole month (and a little more) since we set sail in August. There were many events happening in different corners of the sea, and we want to give you an overview to make sure you didn't miss anything.
The biggest update in August came on the last day of the month, but there was plenty to enjoy before that. After a hotfix at the beginning of the month, we had a shiny Gold & Glory weekend that gave everyone a chance to make a name for themselves and fill their treasure chests with increased rewards. If you needed some coins for your next purchase, it was the perfect time to set sail!
The Legend of Monkey Island: Chapter Two
Then it was time for the big event: the second chapter of "The Legend of Monkey Island". A month after players first had the chance to sail to the shores of Mêlée Island, they were back on Corina's bidding to break Guybrush's curse and save him from LeChuck's evil plans in "The Search for Guybrush".
Your Animal Companions in Sea of Thieves
After the conversations with Spiffy in "The Journey to Monkey Island", the developers have been thinking about the variety of animal companions that pirates can have on their journey across the Sea of Thieves. To learn more about the origins of these curious creatures, the developers have spoken with some collector pet creators.
Spotlights and Music: The Sea of Thieves Community
In the community, the developers had two new spotlights: a creator spotlight on Flameheart Fan AShinyRay, who shed light on his YouTube story and an embarrassing milk catastrophe, followed by a community spotlight with Woodrow Jenkins to learn more about his extensive and decorated career as a pirate.
The addition to the ever-expanding soundtrack in August was "Ramsey's Regret", and there was exciting news for fans of more traditional games as the "Sea of Thieves" board game was released! Inspired by the Sea of Thieves we all know, "Voyage of Legends" offers a new way to fulfill your dreams of a fearsome pirate legend. Or at least it will if the dice roll in your favor.
More Updates and Community Actions
A new month naturally meant a new issue of "Sea of Thieves News", where Daryl came to the tavern to give a taste of upcoming content. Then came the most anticipated video release of the month: the launch trailer for the second tall tale in "The Legend of Monkey Island"! This enticing teaser gave players a first glimpse of the journey that awaits them in "The Search for Guybrush".
Your August in Sea of Thieves
With sunny skies and summer blockbusters, the developers welcomed August by unveiling a new career and finding out who among you are true "Sea of Thieves" fans. Even a few unfortunate mishaps during the Gold & Glory weekend and some sloop taunting couldn't dampen their spirits. Meanwhile, the regular #SundayVibes and #TriviaTuesday offerings focused on the latest tall tales...
Final Thoughts and Preview of Next Month
As the month came to a close, the developers had some discussions about a variety of colorful flags, wrote poems, and confronted some intrusive thoughts. After a collective effort to rename one of the many islands of the sea, they ended the month with the exchange of good-natured insults to ensure that the developers were well-prepared for the return to Mêlée Island.
