Shantae and the Seven Sirens - 2D-Japano-Adventure by WayForward

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is the latest installment in the "Shantae" series by developer WayForward. The main character of the game is Shantae, who moves through different worlds and scenarios in the five adventures so far.

What the game is about

In Shantae and the Seven Sirens, the player accompanies half-genie Shantae on her fifth adventure. This time she has to explore a sunken city and, as in the previous games, find new companions. The big challenge are the Seven Sirens. Nintendo promises more puzzles and labyrinths as well as a huge world under water. The popular fusion magic is also one of the highlights of Shantae and the Seven Sirens.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens impresses with colorful cutscenes and a matching ingame look. Fan favorites like Rottytops, Sky, Bolo and the evil pirate Risky Boots also make a comeback.

The gameplay

Heroes and villains set out together in search of the kidnapped half-genies. Throughout the course of the game, the protagonist builds up an arsenal of melee attacks and still relies on the popular animal transformations that are already known from the predecessors. As a cat or turtle, the player then crawls and jumps through the levels or is transported as a cannonball to hidden passages. During the course of the approximately eight hours of play that the title offers, there are entertaining boss fights, which are appropriately accompanied by songs in the anime style and classic ziptunes.

Graphics and Content

Created by well-known artist Erin Bozon, the game features again charming comic graphics, this time depicting plant-like boss opponents and sunken underwater worlds. The paradisiacal 2D settings are especially appealing to younger players, but the selection of transformations, extras, weapons and dances also offer enough variety for experienced gamers. Numerous boss fights, secret stages and countless unlockable items round off the title from WayForward.
