Share Play - Ubisoft launches new service for playing together

Ubisoft has launched its new Share Play service. Unlike Sony's PlayStation Share Play from 2014, the new service is powered by Ubisoft Connect (formerly Uplay).

An account with the service is not required on consoles, however, most modern Ubisoft PC games require a sign-in to Ubisoft Connect. Share Play is currently only available on PC and it is unlikely to be expanded to other platforms in the near future.

The Current Games

Supported games are currently limited to these titles:

  • Anno 1800
  • Far Cry 5
  • Far Cry 6
  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey
  • Assassin's Creed Origins
  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  • Ghost Recon Breakpoint
  • OddBallers
  • Riders Republic

More games are expected to follow soon.

How Share Play Works

The invited friend can control the game with their own supported gamepad or mouse and keyboard. However, their control will be automatically paused when performing actions on the computer outside of the game during the session.

While the guest's control is paused, the game will continue to run in the background unless a pause menu is called up.

One can start a Share Play session through the Ubisoft Connect in-game overlay. This is a new enhancement for Ubisoft's PC gaming offerings, along with automatic game purchases being streamed on Amazon Luna.
