Anticipation for Skate.: A Comeback Like No Other
A wait that feels almost as endless as the one for GTA 6 - for many PS5 and Xbox players, that's the experience associated with the upcoming Skate. game. Almost 14 years have passed since the release of Skate 3, and now all hopes are resting on the EA Studio Full Circle, which is working on the long-awaited next installment of the series.
Even though the game doesn't officially carry the title Skate 4, Full Circle promises to stay true to the core essence of the series. And that's not all: The official console tests for Skate. are set to begin as early as next year.
A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Skate.
In a recently released developer diary for the new Skate. installment, Cuz Parry and Deran Chung address the numerous comments from PS5 and Xbox players who are eager to learn more about the upcoming game. Along with confirming that the game will also be available for last-generation consoles like PlayStation 4, Chung announces, "Good news, console playtests are coming next year." While this won't happen immediately, it is at least certain that they will take place in 2024.
Skate. playtests have already been conducted in the PC version of the game over the past few months. As for the official release date of Skate., that remains a mystery. However, speculation suggests that it may be sometime in the second half of next year or at the latest, early 2025.
Welcome to San Vansterdam
The setting for the new Skate. adventure is San Vansterdam - a completely new location in the Skate. series. The Full Circle team is working on a variety of customization options for both the game environment and the players themselves. Of particular interest are gameplay improvements such as a parkour system that can be combined with classic skate tricks. This promises some truly unique combinations!
Loot Boxes and Crossplay
Rumors of loot boxes as microtransactions have been circulating, but these have been clearly denied by the developer. One particularly exciting piece of news is that Skate. will support crossplay, allowing players to play together on different platforms for the first time in the series' history.
