The Sniper Ghost Warrior series has developed into a real AA over the years. However, with Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, one came across relatively little opposition in an empty and interchangeable open game world in 2017, even though the title was convincing in terms of gameplay. In 2019, the open world was therefore put aside in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts and replaced with extensive but still limited areas. Contracts is now receiving a sequel in June 2021, which is simply called Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2.
Developer and publisher CI Games is releasing the game for both PC and the current and previous console generation, so owners of a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S can look forward to the release as much as PS4 or Xbox One users.
A varied singleplayer experience
Even though the direct predecessor was subsequently supplemented with a PvP mode, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is primarily aimed at single-player. So far, only a single-player campaign has been announced for the sequel. It remains to be seen whether this will be supplemented with a multiplayer component after release. All games in the Sniper Ghost Warrior series take their name literally and offer you numerous ways to complete your missions. Contracts 2 also combines various gameplay forms, so you can expect not only shooter action, but also stealth elements and an authentic sniper experience.
How you complete your tasks is usually left up to you. However, in order to receive all rewards, you have to choose different approaches depending on the mission. So you decide once for a silent switch-off with the knife and set another time on automatic weapons or explosives to deactivate your enemies. But even sniper fans can prove their skills by eliminating targets at more than 1000 meters distance. A special bullet camera, which is reminiscent of the kill-cam of the Sniper Elite series, ensures spectacular shots.
From the cold of Siberia to the Middle East
While Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts still sent you to the snowy Siberia, this time the action takes place in much warmer areas, namely the Middle East. Here, the main character Raven finds himself on a total of five individual maps, on which 21 main missions and various side missions await him.
Wooded natural areas are just as much the scene as desert sections, Arab villages or sumptuous Oriental buildings. The story presents the contract killer with the ambitious task of penetrating deep into enemy territory in order to stop a crime syndicate single-handedly. He can rely on a comprehensive arsenal of weapons and equipment, from classic sniper rifles, to silenced pistols, to shotguns or MPs.
