Armor in Sons of the Forest
Over the past few weeks, I have been playing Sons of the Forest and delving into the armor system. There are a total of six different types of armor, ranging from the simple Leaf Armor to the powerful Technology Armor. Additionally, rumors are circulating about a mysterious golden armor. In this article, you will learn everything you need to know about these different armors and how they perform against various attacks.
Leaf Armor, Fur Armor & More
Let's start with the most basic armor in the game - Leaf Armor. While it only provides modest protection, it is still better than no armor at all. In comparison, Fur Armor is much more effective and offers about twice as much protection as Leaf Armor. Bone and Mutant Armor are roughly on the same level and grant you about 15 additional health bars. However, the biggest leap in terms of protection is the Technology Armor, which increases your survivability by more than nine times!
The Mysterious Golden Armor
Many players have heard of the legendary golden armor, the usefulness of which was unclear for a long time. In my experiments, I found that while this armor is practically useless against physical attacks, it provides excellent protection against demon attacks - at least to a certain extent. After an update, the effectiveness of the golden armor against demons was reduced from its original 90% to 70%.
Which armor is the best?
Of course, the answer to this question depends on your playstyle and the challenges you encounter in Sons of the Forest. Generally speaking, however, the higher quality the armor, the better the protection. Here's a quick summary:
- Leaf Armor: 4 additional health bars
- Fur Armor: 8 additional health bars
- Bone & Mutant Armor: 15 additional health bars
- Technology Armor: 25 to 30 additional health bars
- Golden Armor: No protection against physical attacks, but 70% protection against demon attacks
So, if you're looking for the best armor for your adventures in Sons of the Forest, you should definitely aim for the Technology Armor - unless you plan to deal mainly with demons. Then the golden armor could be an interesting alternative.
How do I get the different armors?
Throughout the game, you will come across various materials with which you can craft your armors. For both the Leaf Armor and the Fur Armor, you only need the corresponding resources from the environment. The Bone and Mutant Armors require a bit more effort and the collection of special materials. Finally, for the Technology Armor, you need to progress further in the game and gain access to advanced technologies. The Golden Armor, on the other hand, is a bit more difficult to obtain and requires solving puzzles and exploring secret locations. But we don't want to spoil too much here ;)
