S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl - Release much later than planned

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will probably not be released until 2024. The developer GSC Game World might also start in an Early Access and gradually expand the game. But so far these are only rumors.

The editor-in-chief of iXBT Games, Vitaly Kazunov, was told this by current and former employees of GSC according to his own statements. One reason for the great delay are the effects of the Ukraine war. After February 2022, production was partially shut down to move the studio and its employees to the Czech Republic. This also led to many layoffs among the employees.

Revision of the game

One effect of the personnel change is that the already finished places of the game are revised again. The new developers want to implement their own ideas and this sometimes happens very radically.

According to Kazunov, the current state of the game is with that of Cyberpunk 2077 at the time when CD Projekt Red announced a release for April 2020. But nothing has been officially confirmed or denied by GSC yet. Microsoft recently refunded the full purchase price to all pre-orders of Stalker 2. At the same time, GSC also promised a release in 2023.

So it is still unclear when and if the release will come. As soon as we receive more information, we will let you know.
