Star Citizen - A Leap into the Future

Welcome back, adventurers of the cosmos! Today, we shine our spotlight on the still-in-development space game Star Citizen. And trust me, there are some exciting news for you. Cloud Imperium, the developer behind this ambitious project, has just announced an update to the priority system for accessing the public test versions. Sounds complicated? It's not.

The New Priority System - More Fairness in Space

I know, some of you are probably already alpha-tested veterans in the world of Star Citizen. Others, however, may still be waiting for their rockets to finally ignite and take them into space. So far, every player had the opportunity to jump into the public test versions of the game. But that might change now.

The problem with the old system

According to a developer on the game's official forum, many players would log in shortly after each version release just to check out the latest features or new spaceships, only to then wait for the live release. This initial surge of players resulted in relatively high server costs and download deployments. The result? The developers had to deal with all sorts of issues and couldn't focus on what really mattered to them - continuous playtesting.

The solution

But don't worry! Cloud Imperium has responded and is now making changes to its PTU access priority system for the first time in four years. The goal is to grant early access to active players and ensure a sufficient number of testers at all times. How? By taking factors such as your total playtime and support history into account for each wave.

Good news for new players

Are you new to Star Citizen? No worries! You can also benefit from this new system. According to the developers, future activity within a relatively short period of time will lead to earlier PTU access. So if you've only recently started playing and remain an active and dedicated fan, you will be prioritized.

Conclusion

While we all patiently await the full release of Star Citizen from its early access stage, this move can be seen as a positive one. It not only demonstrates the developers' commitment to their community, but also gives us players a greater motivation to stay active and continue playing Star Citizen intensively.
